A search is on for two men who were last seen on the west coast of Vancouver Island on the same day that another man went missing from the island's east side.

On May 28, Ucluelet RCMP announced that they are seeking to locate Daniel Archbald and Ryan Daley, who were on a sailboat that had docked in Ucluelet on May 13. They were last seen leaving the Ucluelet Small Craft Harbour by land on May 16.

Since that time, they have not had any contact with friends or family and were reported missing to the police.

According to information posted on a Facebook page devoted to the search for the two men, they were captured on surveillance footage leaving by foot and are thought to have intended to hitchhike to Jordan River, where Daley has a residence.

CBC News reported that the two men had just completed an eight-week sailing trip from Panama.

Archbald, who is from Squamish, is a 37-year-old male with short strawberry blond hair and facial stubble. He has an average build, and was last seen wearing a grey fleece long sleeve top, green pants, and flip flops while carrying a large dry bag (which is a flexible watertight container).

Daley is a 43-year-old male with short dark hair who was last seen sporting a grey ball cap with a black logo, a white t-shirt, dark pants (possibly jeans), and shoes, and was carrying a yellow or green backpack as well as a large white duffel bag with black accents.

Anyone who has information about their location is asked to call Ucluelet RCMP at 250-726-7773 or those who remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Benjamin John Kilmer was last seen on May 16.

Their disappearance occurred on the same day that another man on Vancouver Island vanished.

According to CBC News, the van of Benjamin John Kilmer, a 41-year-old electrician and father of two from Cobble Hill, was discovered abandoned on Cowichan Lake Road west of Duncan in the afternoon of May 16. A small amount of blood and his personal items were found in the van. He was last seen on surveillance video at a job site around 11 a.m. on that same day.

An extensive search of the area by hundreds of search-and-rescue teams and volunteers, including an RCMP dog team and a search of Cowichan River, failed to locate Kilmer. Friends and family continued to search for him even after police efforts were suspended on May 21.

Kilmer is five-feet, seven-inches tall, weighs 205 pounds, has short brown hair and blue eyes, is clean shaven, and was last seen wearing light-coloured pants, a black shirt, and steel-toed work boots.

Anyone with information about his location is asked to call the North Cowichan and Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

While search efforts for all three men are being coordinated, no connection between the separate cases has been established or stated.
