The mysterious disappearance of a Brussels Griffon has a happy ending.

New Westminster police say that the lovable local pooch called Jackson was located in Vancouver and is back with his family.

On Saturday (June 2), Jackson was left leashed outside a store on Carnarvon Street, not far from New Westminster Station.

When the couple returned moments later, the leash was still there but the dog was missing.

Video surveillance taken in the area shows a woman around 40 years old carrying a small dog.

Officers have not revealed how Jackson was found, but will say an investigation is continuing to determine if there was a criminal offence.

These animals also go by the name Griffon Bruxellois and weigh four to five kilograms. They bond well with children but don't normally get along with other dogs.

That's because they try to dominate other canines, even those that may be much bigger than them.
