The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) announced today (June 18) that is it investigating the remains of two individuals found near Ucluelet.

The remains were discovered by a woman walking her dog in the area late last week.

VIIMCU investigators are working with the B.C. Coroners Service to identify the remains. RCMP Sgt. Janelle Shoihet told the Georgia Straight that for investigative reasons, the date, time, and place of where and when the remains where found are not being released at this time.

RCMP stated in a news release that it is too soon to confirm if the remain belong to two missing men—43-year-old Ryan Daley and 37-year-old Daniel Archibald—who were last seen leaving Ucluelet Small Craft Harbour on May 16.

VIIMCU had since taken over the case and deemed their disappearance suspicious.

Their disappearance coincided with another man, 41-year-old electrician Benjamin John Kilmer, going missing from Cowichan Lake Road near Duncan on Vancouver Island.

Elsewhere on Vancouver Island, three men who went missing on June 15 when their boat capsized near Tofino have not yet been located.
