The SkyTrain still doesn't leave downtown Vancouver later than 1:28 a.m. on weekends. And bars in the Granville Entertainment District remain open until 3 a.m.

But TransLink has still come up with a way to help late-night drunks find their way home a little easier on the bus system.

Today, it announced a new "NightBus District pilot project" so people will know where to go to catch a ride out of the downtown core.

All the NightBus routes will now stop at the corner of Granville and Georgia streets every 20 to 30 minutes.

Three of these routes (N9), (N10), and (N19) roughly follow the routes of the Millennium Line, Canada Line, and Expo Line, respectively.

These ones will all offer final rides from downtown after 4 a.m.

The other routes will have final departures from Granville and Georgia between 3:09 and 5:09 a.m., depending on the route. They fan out to Kitsilano and UBC's Point Grey campus, up Victoria Drive, along Hastings to SFU's Burnaby campus, and up Lonsdale to Lynn Valley in North Vancouver,

“Improving access and awareness for TransLink’s night bus network is a great step in the process to improve transportation services that support downtown Vancouver’s thriving nightlife,” Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association president and CEO Charles Gauthier said in a news release.

These buses can be identified by the letter "N" on bus schedules.

More information is available on the TransLink website.
