      It’s kind of fitting really.

Though Alex Burrows didn’t exactly go out on his own terms the way his longtime linemates Daniel and Henrik Sedin did, he nonetheless will follow the twins into retirement.

The winger’s career path is well documented: A ball hockey star who went to earn a tryout with the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes before working his way up the ECHL and AHL levels to stardom on the Canucks’ first line, Burrows will forever be remembered by Canucks fans in a positive light.

Though known as one of the most hated players around the league, Burrows cemented his legacy as one of the Canucks more popular players during his 12 seasons with the team.

Burrows was placed on waivers near the end of last season and it appeared then that it would be curtains for the agitator. In the offseason, the Senators bought out the last year of his $2.5 million contract. Though he planned to try and play for another club, he couldn’t garner enough interest.

It’s been rumoured that Burrows might come back in some sort of managerial capacity with the Canucks, as he has long stated his desire to remain involved in the game. All indications are that he has a savvy hockey mind, and the Canucks would be wise to bring him into the fold.

His tenure as a Canuck inspires a few memories—the biting incident against Boston in the Stanley Cup Final; the goal he scored in Game 2 of the same series; and his tally to give Henrik Sedin the Canucks all-time lead in points, to name a few.

But none are likely as etched in fans’ memories as the goal that slayed the dragon.

What will you remember Alex Burrows for?
