Brazilian Pedro Barros blows away the competition at Vans Park Series in Hastings Park
It was a weekend to remember for fans of a multitude of sports.
France captured its second World Cup and the first in 20 years with a convincing 4-2 win over Croatia.
B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay performed a whole lot of second-half magic in a come-from-behind 20-17 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at B.C. Place Stadium.
English soccer star Wayne Rooney made his MLS debut with D.C. United against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Vancouver Open beach volleyball tourney is taking place at Kitsilano Beach.
And at Hastings Park on Saturday (July 14), Brazilian Pedro Barros captured his second consecutive Vans Park Series victory in Vancouver by registering the only 90-point run of the day.
Also making the podium were second-place finisher Ivan Federico (Italy) and third-place finisher Alex Sorgente (United States).
Rounding out the top eight were Trey Wood (United States), Keegan Palmer (Australia), Murilo Peres (Brazil), Karl Berglind (Sweden), and Jagger Eaton (United States).
Hastings Skatepark is one of the most challenging courses on the series, which helps explain why such a large crowd turned out to watch the event this weekend.
