Coquitlam RCMP announced today (July 19) that the body of a missing swimmer has been located.

On July 17, police received a report that a 19-year-old man from Surrey had gone missing while swimming with a group of friends at Buntzen Lake in Anmore B.C.

Coquitlam RCMP, Coquitlam Search and Rescue, and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team conducted searches on the water, shoreline, and underwater.

RCMP stated in a news release that the missing swimmer's body was located around 6 p.m. on July 18 in about 40 metres of water. He was found near the spot where he was last seen about 100 metres from shore.

An autopsy by the B.C. Coroners Service will be scheduled but there are no indications of foul play. His name has not been released yet.
