Overnight lane closures scheduled this weekend on Lions Gate Bridge

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is recommending that motorists use the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge on Saturday night and Sunday morning (July 21 and 22) if they're travelling between Vancouver and the North Shore.

That's because crews will be removing temporary plates and paved transitions from the Lions Gate Bridge.

There will only be one lane open in either direction over the Lions Gate from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

From10 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday, there will only be a single lane of alternating traffic on the Lions Gate Bridge.

Traffic volumes are very low on the bridge at those times at this time of year, which is why the work is being done this weekend.

Also on Saturday and Sunday, traffic in North Vancouver will be rerouted as side streets around Lonsdale Avenue from 5th to 8th Street will be closed during Fun City Festival for its giant water slide.
