Cyclist dies after collision with vehicle in Delta
A collision between a vehicle and cyclist in Delta has ended in tragedy.
Police responded to a call about a traffic incident at 72nd Street and 36th Avenue near Delta's Boundary Bay Airport around 1:30 p.m. on August 7.
According to Delta Police, a cyclist travelling along 36th Avenue and a vehicle travelling south on 72nd Street had collided.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police, and southbound traffic on 72nd Street remained closed on August 7 for the duration of the investigation.
Delta Police public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf stated in a news release that although Emergency Health Services attended the scene, the cyclist did not survive the collision.
The name of the cyclist is not being released but the cyclist's extended family has been notified.
