Pamela Anderson joins Vancouver Humane Society in criticizing Chilliwack Fair Rodeo

Last year, it appeared as though there might be a truce between the Vancouver Humane Society and the Chilliwack Fair.

It came after the fair announced that it would review calf-roping and steer-wrestling events at its annual rodeo.

But this year, the fair intends to hold tie-down roping and steer wrestling again.

That's generating opposition not only from the humane society, but also from Pamela Anderson.

On Twitter, the Ladysmith-raised former Baywatch star has called for an end to "rodeo cruelty in Chilliwack".

The former Playboy model also tweeted the Vancouver Humane Society's link, which registers its objections.

In 2007 the Cloverdale Rodeo toned down criticism from the humane society when it agreed to drop its four most objectionable events.

But in Chilliwack, organizers are refusing to bend, which is why there might be demonstrations this weekend outside the fairgrounds.
