Burnaby motorcyclist dies in collision in Kitsilano

      A traffic collision on Vancouver's West Side this morning has ended in the death of a motorcyclist.  

      Around 6:15 a.m. today (August 15), police responded to a call about a collision in Kitsilano at West Broadway near Yew Street between a motorcycle and an SUV.

      The motorcyclist, a 54-year-old man from Burnaby, died at the scene.

      The SUV driver, a 64-year-old Vancouver man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

      Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage in the area between 6 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. is asked to call the VPD's Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.

      The death of the motorcyclist marks the seventh traffic-related fatality in Vancouver this year.
