Police announce second-degree murder charge laid against mother in death of seven-year-old Aaliyah Rosa

      The mother of a seven-year-old deceased Langley girl, Aaliyah Rosa, will appear in B.C. Provincial Court today.

      Kerryann Lewis, 36, has been charged with second-degree murder.

      The girl's body was found on July 22 in an apartment building near 200th Street and 68th Avenue in Langley.

      Police concluded that she was the victim of a homicide.

      “This was a tragic case that shocked the community,” Integrated Homicide Investigation Team corporal Frank Jang said in a news release.  “Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Aaliyah Rosa and we hope that we were able to provide some answers to her family.”

      Police say there is no risk to the public.
