Unidentified woman found murdered on B.C. Interior highway north of Boston Bar

      Update: The body has been identified as 28-year-old Belgian national Amélie Christelle Sakkalis.

      An investigation is underway into the discovery of an unidentified woman who was found murdered on a British Columbian highway in the Fraser Canyon.

      Around 7:45 p.m. on August 22, RCMP received a report about a suspicious incident on Highway 1 north of Boston Bar, which is located about 65 kilometres away from Hope, B.C.

      When police arrived, they found the dead body of a Caucasian woman in her late 20s who been murdered. The woman has not yet been identified.

      Officers also arrested a man at the scene but he has since been released from custody.

      A white 1994 Chevrolet Astro van near the crime scene, believed to be related to the murder, was seized by RCMP.
