Updated: nine-year-old girl missing from Richmond located

      Update (August 27): Richmond RCMP reported at 10:10 a.m. that Amaya Araki-McWilliams was located in the evening on August 26 and is safe.

      A nine-year-old girl of Asian and white ancestry has gone missing from a Richmond hotel where she was staying with her father.

      Richmond RCMP has issued a statement saying that Amaya Araki-McWilliams was allegedly taken wihout permission by her mother, Natalie Araki.

      According to the Mounties, the girl's father has sole custody. She was last seen around 1 a.m. this morning.

      Amaya Araki-McWilliams is described as 4'6" to 4'10" with black hair. She was wearing a white "Canada" T-shirt and dark-coloured shorts.

      Her mother is a 35-year-old of Asian and white ancestry who's 5'2" with black hair. She was wearing a black jacket and a black baseball cap.

      The RCMP says that they "are still believed to be in the Lower Mainland, possibly Vancouver or New Westminster".
