A fatal overdose in East Vancouver has led to an investigation into the location of a potential drug lab.

Prior to 2 a.m. on August 25, Vancouver police responded to a call about a sudden death due to a drug overdose on the East Side in the Killarney area.

A 35-year-old man was found dead in the suite, located on Rhodes Street near East 41st Avenue, and his death isn't being considered suspicious, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

After an assessment of the suite, the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Hazmat Team determined that there wasn't any risk to the safety of the building's residents at the time.

Police executed a search warrant to collect evidence and ensure safety of residents.

No arrests have been made yet.

This Vancouver investigation follows closely on the heels of another one by Richmond police.

On August 24, Richmond RCMP shut down roads and evacuated an area around the 11000 block of Kingfisher Drive in Steveston after the discovery of a possible synthetic drug lab. The investigation continued throughout the weekend.
