The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) announced today (September 4) that a man injured in a collision in Vancouver's West End has died of his injuries.

Around 5:45 a.m. on August 27, a 29-year-old Vancouver man was driving a black Infinity westbound on Robson Street. His vehicle collided with a red Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old man who was heading northbound on Bidwell Street.

The Civic driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Const. Jason Doucette told the Georgia Straight that he died on August 28. His name was not been released. His death is the ninth traffic-related fatality in Vancouver in 2018.

According to the VPD, there weren't any other occupants in the vehicles and no one else was injured. The Honda Civic driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Const. Doucette also said that based on initial findings, speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors. Police are continuing their investigation into the collision.
