A shooting took place last night in a residential Abbotsford neighbourhood near Aldergrove.

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) announced today (September 19) that they received several calls around 7:30 p.m. on September 18 about a shooting at the 2900 block of Flagman Place.

A male informed the APD that when he arrived at a residence on Flagman Place, an individual came out of the residence and allegedly fired a gun at his vehicle. The driver fled and called police. No one was injured.

Officers took a 43-year-old man into custody and he is facing firearms-related charges. His name has not been released.

The APD stated in a news release that this incident does not appear linked to any gang conflict in the Lower Mainland.

Investigators are seeking witnesses and anyone who has video footage, and are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the APD Major Crime Unit at 604-859-5225 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

Although no connection has been indicated, Abbotsford police had previously responded to a call about another shooting in the 2900 block of Flagman Place on January 10, 2017.

In that incident, a resident left his house and was walking toward his truck when another man began firing shots at him before fleeing in a vehicle. No one was injured but bullets struck two houses.
