Male suspect wanted for Surrey hotel stabbing may be in Lower Mainland or Alberta

      Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man involved in an early-morning stabbing incident at a Surrey hotel.

      Around 5:30 a.m. on June 14, Surrey police responded to a report about a man who had been stabbed at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in the 15200 block of 104 Avenue.

      The male victim of the assault was taken to hospital with serious injuries, who has since been released and is recovering.

      Investigators believe this occurrence to be an isolated and targeted incident.

      Malcolm Drydgen has been charged with aggravated assault and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

      He is a 29-year-old male described as about 1.7 metres (five-feet, eight-inches) tall and weighs 77 kilograms (170 pounds) with a slender build. He has short black hair with a receding hairline and has brown eyes.

      Police believe he is somewhere in the Lower Mainland but could be in Alberta.
