A B.C. man who assaulted another man in Toronto and then dove naked into a tank full of sharks at an aquarium has been granted bail.

On October 12, a man had been captured on video diving nude and swimming around in Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada’s Dangerous Lagoon, a tank that contains numerous sharks, fish, turtles, and other sealife.

Toronto Police Service connected him to an assault outside Medieval Times earlier in the evening that left a victim with serious injuries.

The man was identified as David Weaver, a 37-year-old man from Nelson, B.C.

He was arrested by Ontario Provincial Police officers in Thunder Bay on October 17 after police identified his vehicle.

Police transported Weaver to Toronto for court proceedings.

Weaver faces three charges: assault causing bodily harm and two types of mischief.

He was released on $1,000 bail and a $2,000 deposit on October 19.

His bail conditions include not being within 100 metres of Ripley’s aquarium of Medieval Times and remaining at least 50 metres from the victim of his alleged assault, according to news reports. He has been ordered to receive counselling for alcohol abuse and anger management as well.

His next court appearance is scheduled for November 22 in Toronto.
