RCMP launch investigation into fatal assault in Surrey

      RCMP are investigating a serious assault in Surrey that has left one man dead.

      Around 2:45 a.m. on October 21, Surrey RCMP responded to a call about an assault in the area of 104 Avenue and King George Boulevard.

      However, the caller and an adult male assault victim were uncooperative with police and fled before police arrived. Police were unable to locate them.

      Then at 2:40 p.m. on the same day, the B.C. Coroner Service informed RCMP that the victim died in hospital from his injuries.

      Today (October 22), the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified the victim as Wesley Rideout.

      Police are gathering evidence and are not releasing any further details. IHIT is working with Surrey RCMP on the investigation.
