Vancouver investigators are seeking the public's assistance in a missing-person case that is closing in on three decades of remaining unsolved.

On October 28, 1988, 21-year-old meteorology graduate student Emerson Dobroskay from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was out in Vancouver with his friends Dave, Kim, and Mark.

After he left the group at the University of British Columbia's Pit Pub at closing time at 1 a.m., he was never seen or heard from again. He never returned to his room at Totem Park Residence's Haida House.

Although extensive ground and aerial searches were conducted and tips were received from across Canada, the U.S., and abroad, no evidence of his whereabouts was ever found.

At the time of his disappearance, Emerson was 170 centimetres (five-feet, seven-inches) tall and weighed 57 kilograms (125 pounds). He has blue eyes and light brown curly hair, and wore glasses.

He was last seen wearing a brown pullover sweater, a blue shirt, dark pants, and dark suede shoes.

According to Child Find Saskatchewan, who identify his middle name as Grant, his date of birth is March 13, 1967; he has freckles, scars, and birthmarks, including a slight mark below his left eye and a dogbite scar on his right forearm; a slight buldge inside his right index finger; had been prone to acne; had a builtup front tooth; and walks with a slight shuffle.

Anyone who has information about Emerson is asked to contact University RCMP at 604-224-1322 or, to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8427 or online.
