One of three suspects has been taken into custody in relation to one of the most appalling crimes of the year in B.C.

Robert Christopher Bomba, 37, faces six charges following a violent home invasion in Sicamous.

On October 24, two masked males with handguns broke into a home on Kappel Street at 6:24 a.m. A female accomplice allegedly remained outside keeping watch.

The resident, a 59-year-old terminally ill woman with cancer, was allegedly kicked in the face and suffered a broken nose.

The thieves made off in a white Ford truck with prescription drugs, jewellery, and two safes.

Family members told Global B.C. News that the criminals threatened to chop off the woman's fingers if they couldn't remove her rings. They also reportedly broke her hand with a baton when she tried to reach for her cellphone.

The woman managed to escape as the men were loading goods into the vehicle.

The truck was found last week after the RCMP said it matched the description of a 2003 Ford F-350 that was reported as stolen in Armstrong.

      Bomba was arrested in Nanaimo.

He's charged with forcible confinement, disguising his face while committing an offence, assault causing bodily harm, break and enter, failure to comply with probation, and possession of stolen property valued at more than $5,000.

None of these allegations has been proven in court.
