Surrey RCMP are investigating a vehicle collision that has resulted in one death and two life-threatening injuries, and one man charged with several counts of dangerous driving.

After midnight on November 4, RCMP received a report about a two-vehicle collision in the 13400-block of 88th Avenue in Surrey.

According to investigators, a black 2016 Jeep Cherokee headed westbound on 88th Avenue crossed the centre median and crashed into a Ford Escape that was eastbound near 134th Street.

The driver of the Ford Escape was pronounced dead at the scene, while the three passengers in that same vehicle were taken to hospital. Two passengers remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries while the third, who had minor injuries, has been released.

The Jeep Cherokee driver (who didn't have any passengers) sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody.

Nicolas Karvouniaris, a 25-year-old resident of Surrey, has been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

He has been released on conditions with a future court date.
