A slim white man with dark hair and dark facial stubble is being sought by Vancouver police.

It's in connection with an early-morning assault on a woman in her apartment on Bute Street near Pendrell in the West End.

The woman reported that a man followed her into her suite just before 3 a.m.

According to a VPD news release, investigators think that the attack was "sexually motivated".

Security footage shows a man in his 20s or 30s in a burgundy toque with a slim build. He possibly walks with a limp and he was wearing blue jeans and a black zip-up jacket.

Police describe him as a "person of interest" and anyone with information is being urged to call the police tip line at 604-717-0601.

Update

On November 20, Vancouver police announced that they've arrested a 34-year-old Vancouver man in connection with the assault. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

His name has not been released.
