Today (December 3), the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) issued a composite sketch of a suspect involved in a sexual assault that took place in East Vancouver last week.

The assault occurred after a 14-year-old girl disembarked from a bus on Kingsway around 5 p.m. on November 27 and headed north on Miller Street.

As she was walking, an unknown male grabbed her from behind and pulled her into bushes in Brewers Park, off Commercial Street.

The suspect sexually assaulted her before he ran east through the park.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s who is about 170 to 178 centimetres (five-feet, seven-inches to five-feet, 10-inches) tall with a medium build and is believed to weigh around 73 to 91 kilograms (160 to 200 pounds).

He has dark brown eyes, an oval-shaped face, and short, brown, wavy hair cut short on the sides.

He was wearing a black rain jacket, dark blue jeans, and black boots at the time of the assault.

Anyone with dashcam footage who was driving in the area between 2:30 and 6 p.m. on November 27 or who has information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unity at 604-717-0602 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
