Mission RCMP announced today that a baby found in a dumpster later died while in hospital last week.

According to a news release, police received a report on November 23 that a newborn baby had been found in a dumpster in the 33600 block of Prentis Avenue in Mission.

Although the baby was taken to hospital and was in critical condition, she died on November 29. Her cause of death is currently under investigation.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old woman, who has since been released without charges laid.

The investigation is continuing on but no further information is being released by RCMP.
