The search for a First Nations man who went missing in August has ended in a tragic discovery.

Family members of Waylon Joe, a 36-year-old man of the Tsawwassen First Nations, reported him missing to Delta police on August 18. He was last seen on August 13 at his home in the 1700 block of Tsawwassen Drive. on Tsawwassen First Nations land.

Despite search efforts by Surrey Search and Rescue, RCMP Air Services and Dive Team, and Tsawwassen First Nations community members for several weeks, no one was able to locate him.

Then on November 28, a dog walker discovered the remains of a male on the shore of Tsawwassen First Nations.

The remains were confirmed to be Waylon Joe on December 3.

As Joe's cause of death remains unknown, Delta police and the B.C. Coroners Service are conducting an investigation, and foul play is not suspected.
