Local investigators are seeking more information from friends and acquaintances, as well as the general public, of a pedestrian who died after being hit by a bus in Delta to understand what happened prior to the fatal incident.

Prior to 11:30 p.m. on October 27, 48-year-old Gary Bowman was walking across the street in the 7200 block of River Road in the Tilbury area of Delta when he was hit by an eastbound charter bus.

Visibility may have been a factor in the crash as it had been raining and was dark at the time.

Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus remained at the scene, and there weren't any passengers aboard at the time.

However, the DPD announced today (December 7) that they don't believe they have the correct information of circumstances that led up to the fatal incident and are seeking further information.

According the DPD, Bowman worked in the Delta area but had lost touch with his family.

DPD public affairs manager Cris Leykauf stated in a news release that police and Bowman's family are seeking to obtain further details about what happened in the days leading up to the collision as well as on the evening of Gary's death.

Anyone who has information about Gary Bowman or the events prior to or during the crash is asked to contact DPD at 604-946-4411.
