More than two-and-a-half years after a hit-and-run collision killed a skateboarder, Vancouver police have announced an arrest in the case.

Amanpreet Sohal, 23, has been charged with failure to stop at an accident causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing death.

It's in connection with the death of Ryan Barron in hospital on April 17, 2016.

The native of Windsor, Ontario, was struck by a car near the corner of West 54th Avenue and Heather Street.

The vehicle that was believed to be involved, a silver Mitsubishi, was found a couple of days later in East Vancouver.

“Our job is to work on behalf of Ryan and his family to ensure the person responsible for his death is held accountable for their actions,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a VPD news release. “Our collision investigators worked tirelessly on this complex, lengthy and difficult investigation, and we are pleased charges have been laid.”
