Today, Vancouver police have been knocking on doors in the area around East 53rd Avenue and Prince Edward Street, looking for clues in a late Saturday afternoon shooting.

A 45-year-old man is in hospital with gunshot wounds. His name has not been released, but the VPD has revealed that his injuries are not life threatening.

Officers believe that it was a targeted attack and that the public is not at risk.

Major-crime section detectives would like to find any dash-cam footage from anyone who was driving between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. in the area bounded by East 57th and East 49th avenues, and Main and Fraser streets.

The intersection is south of Sunset Park.

"If you know something, or have video footage and have not yet spoken with police, please call or approach one of our officers,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a news release.
