While customers have been busy heading to stores to finish their seasonal shopping, a trip to a retail centre in Richmond turned dangerous for one individual this morning.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. today (December 21), RCMP responded to a call for assistance at the 5300 block of No. 3 Road in Richmond, where B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics were attending to a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of Lansdowne Centre. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.

According to Richmond RCMP, the Lansdowne Centre parking lot has been cordoned off from Home Sense to the north end of the mall, as the investigation continues and evidence is being gathered. Details about the shooting are still to be determined.

What time the affected areas at the mall will reopen is also still to be announced.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 (regarding file 2018-41056).
