B.C. Lions director of player personnel Torey Hunter has been benched until the end of January for Twitter trolling.

In a statement, the Leos confirmed that he violated the CFL's social media policy, as well as the team's.

It came after he was discovered to be a persistent troll of the Edmonton Eskimos' account.

At times, Hunter appeared to be disclosing inside information to contradict the rival team's messages.

"While we encourage the use of social media channels by all members of our organization, we also strive to make very clear that the use of these channels must be done in a positive manner, respectful of our member clubs and the league as a whole," Lions president Rick LeLacheur stated. "We will have no further comment on the matter."

Hunter was a regional scout with the Eskimos before being hired by the Lions in December 2017.

He also coached 12 years in at the college level in the United States.
