Update (January 10): The Vancouver Police Department announced that McLean has been arrested and is in police custody.

A two-time federal offender serving a long-term supervision order has gone missing from a local halfway house.

The Vancouver Police Department announced today (January 10) that a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Gerald Richard McLean, 51, a high-risk sexual offender who did not return to his halfway house in Vancouver on January 9.

McLean was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 2000 and a teenager in 1995. He had been under a supervision order since completing his original sentence for sexual assault.

He is described as a white male who is 173 centimetres (five-feet, eight-inches) tall and weighs 77 kilograms (170 pounds). He has light brown hair, green eyes, and a goatee.

Police warn that anyone who sees McLean or knows of his whereabouts should not approach him and should instead call 911.
