Surrey hotel stabbing suspect located and arrested in Ontario

      Police in Ontario have arrested a man wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place at a Surrey hotel last year.

      On September 14, an arrest warrant was issued for 29-year-old Malcolm Drydgen who was charged with aggravated assault.

      Drydgen was wanted in relation to a stabbing at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in the 15200 block of 104 Avenue in Surrey around 5:30 a.m. on June 14. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

      Investigators believe the stabbing was a targeted incident.

      As Surrey RCMP continued to search for Drydgen, who was believed to be in Metro Vancouver or Alberta, they collaborated with the Toronto Police Service.

      On January 9, Surrey RCMP announced that Drydgen was located in Mississauga, Ontario, on January 7, where he remains in custody until arrangements are made for his return to Surrey, where he will be scheduled to appear in court.
