This weekend, Delta police, Delta firefighters, and CN Rail and B.C. Hydro officials were all on the scene of a horrific collision.

It occurred at Churchill Railway Crossing in the 4600 block of 72nd Street, where a train hit a truck around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday (January 12).

Delta police revealed today that the driver, a Vancouver man in his 40s, died.

His next of kin have been notified but his name has not been released.

"The cause of the crash is currently under investigation," Delta police said in a news release today, "and there is no clear indication of what led to this tragic outcome."

The crossing has warning devices, which were working at the time of the collision, according to CN Rail.

It's the second tragedy involving Cn Rail in less than three weeks in Metro Vancouver.

On December 30 an elderly couple was killed when a train hit their car near the Langley Bypass and Glover Road.
