Male suspect in custody after double stabbing at home in Chilliwack

      After two people were stabbed at a residence in Chilliwack, one person is in custody as an investigation continues on.

      Around 11:45 p.m. on January 10, Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of a two individuals stabbed during a break-and-enter at their home in the 45000 block of Hodgins Avenue.

      Two victims who sustained non-life-threatening injuries were taken to hospital. Investigators believe the stabbings were targeted.

      With the help of Ridge Meadows RCMP, investigators found a connection to a suspect in the Jones Lake area, where Hope RCMP arrested a 40-year-old man from Ridge Meadows, who is in custody.

      This incident follows after another stabbing incident on January 8, when Agassiz RCMP received a report around 9:15 p.m. about a 48-year-old man, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening wounds.

      After officers made a connection to a suspect at a residence in the 300 block of Chestnut Avenue in Harrison Hot Springs.

      On January 9, Aggasiz and Hope RCMP, the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, and the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team cordoned off the area around the home but the suspect was not found.

      The suspect is described as a white male who is 188 centimetres (six-feet, two-inches) tall and weighs 95 kilograms (209 pounds), and has brown hair and brown eyes.
