During a search for a woman who went missing from Lions Bay this past weekend, Squamish RCMP announced at 8:24 p.m. on January 14 that they have located a body matching the description of the missing woman.

Squamish RCMP received a call at 2:25 p.m. on January 13 from the family of Lorraine Prebushewski, who had not seen her since she left at 10 a.m. on the same day from the home she was staying at in Lions Bay.

A large-scale search for her was launched, that included Lions Bay Search and Rescue, the Coast Guard, the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, and RCMP.

The search continued on January 14 until around 2 p.m. when an off-duty RCMP officer reported that he had located a body at Kelvin Grove Beach in Lions Bay.

According to Squamish RCMP, preliminary indications suggest the body is Prebushewski.

The B.C. Coroners Service is still to confirm the identity and, even though investigators have not found anything suspicious at this point, will work with Squamish RCMP to determine if there is anything that requires further investigation.
