While a multi-vehicle collision occurred yesterday after a driver drove the wrong way up Clark Drive, another collision took place this morning, taking the life of a pedestrian.

Around 10:15 a.m. today (February 5), a female pedestrian in her 70s was crossing East Hastings Street at Commercial Drive.

A red pick-up truck heading southbound on Commercial Drive struck the woman as the vehicle was turning east onto Hastings Street.

The 50-year-old truck driver from Vancouver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

However, the pedestrian died of her injuries. This is the second pedestrian fatality of 2019 in Vancouver.

The intersection at East Hastings Street and Commercial Drive was temporarily closed but has since reopened.

      The investigation remains ongoing.
