Female pedestrian dies of injuries after collision in Surrey

      Update: At 1:31 p.m., Surrey RCMP announced that the affected roads near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 68th Avenue in Surrey have been reopened. 

      Streets surrounding the intersection of King George Boulevard and 68th Avenue in Surrey have been closed due to a fatal collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian this morning.

      Around 7:15 a.m. today (February 8), RCMP received a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 6800 block of King George Boulevard.

      The adult female pedestrian, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to hospital but died of her injuries. Meanwhile, the male driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

      The cause of the collision is not yet known.

      As police continue on with their investigation, several roads will remain closed.

      King George Boulevard northbound from 67th Avenue and southbound from 70th Avenue is being closed to traffic.

      In addition, on 68th Avenue, including traffic westbound from 137th Street and eastbound from 135th Street, will be closed.
