A collision between a bus and a pedestrian in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside has left one man dead.

Prior to 5:30 p.m. on February 8, a bus left a stop on West Hastings Street. The bus was heading westbound towards Carrall Street when it collided with a male pedestrian.

The 63-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, died.

An investigation is underway and speed does not appear to be a factor in this incident, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

This is the third pedestrian fatality in 2019 and follows the death of a female pedestrian in her 70s who was hit by a truck at East Hastings Street and Commercial Drive on February 5.
