Hundreds of thousands of students will have the day off classes in the Lower Mainland.

Among the institutions that have shut down for the day as a result of the snow are UBC's Point Grey campus, Capilano University, Langara College, and all of the campuses of SFU, BCIT Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Vancouver Community College, and Douglas College.

Public schools also closed across the region.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the third consecutive day for Metro Vancouver.

It's expected to taper off later in the afternoon.

"Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions," the national weather forecaster states on its website. "Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow."

Naturally, the snowfall is wreaking havoc with driving conditions—as demonstrated in the images below.
