Notorious predatory sex offender Joseph Davis believed to be travelling east in grey Mercedes SUV
The Vancouver Police Department has issued an update on the disappearance of a prolific and violent offender.
Joseph Davis, 47, is believed to be travelling east in a grey 2001 Mercedes ML320, which he purchased. Its licence plate number may be HB7 41S and he may be headed to Winnipeg.
Davis didn't return to his Vancouver halfway house on February 11 and hasn't been seen since.
He has more than 80 criminal convictions, including sexual assault on a Winnipeg real-estate agent and assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement against a sex worker.
He was in the halfway house under a community-supervision order. The judge ordered this rather than granting the Crown's request for a dangerous-offender designation, which would have meant that Davis would serve an indeterminate prison sentence.
Vancouver police describe Davis as 5'8" and weighing 178 pounds, with short blond hair.
He has blue eyes and many tattoos on his arms, and was last seen wearing work boots, blue jeans, and a black rain jacket.
In 2017 Davis also went missing from a Vancouver halfway house and was later arrested in Saskatchewan.
On that occasion, he also drove across the western provinces in a grey Mercedes.
Update
On February 17, Joseph Davis was arrested in Quebec.
