RCMP have arrested two individuals after separate crime sprees had taken place in the Lower Mainland.

On February 14, Surrey RCMP announced that 17 charges have been laid against 36-year-old Jonathan Jarvis after a crime spree in Surrey from November 25 to 28.

After RCMP received several break-and-enter reports at businesses and residences in Surrey, officers launched an investigation while working with other local police agencies.

Surrey RCMP located the suspect’s vehicle in a parking lot in the 15300 block of 24th Avenue in Surrey on November 28 where the suspect was sleeping in the driver’s seat.

After the driver awoke, he tried to escape by driving away but rammed into police vehicles and spike belts that officers had placed to contain the vehicle.

The vehicle was found abandoned on Lee Street in White Rock, and the suspect was later located and arrested.

Jarvis faces 17 charges, including breaking and entering, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of stolen property both under and over $5,000, mischief causing damage to property, failure to stop for a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and prohibited driving.

Meanwhile in a separate case, RCMP received several break-and-enter reports at residences and vehicle thefts that had been taking place from November to January in Agassiz.

Investigators identified a 19-year-old suspect from Chilliwack who officers arrested on February 7. He remains in custody pending a court date later this month. His name has not been released.

He faces seven charges, including breaking and entering, vehicle theft, possession of a prohibited firearm, and failure to comply with court-order conditions.
