Police are investigating a fatal crash in South Vancouver on Friday (February 16) night.

Around 11 p.m., the driver of a southbound white, four-door Hyandai Elantra on Cambie Street collided with a second vehicle, a dark Acura SUV, at West 57th Avenue and then crashed into a utility pole.

According to the VPD, the male in his 20s died after being rushed to hospital.

Two passengers in his car are in hospital with serious injuries.

A VPD news release stated that nobody was seriously injured in the other vehicle.

“Our investigators have spoken with witnesses and believe an orange-coloured VW Beetle may have been travelling with the Elantra around the time of the crash,” VPD Const. Jason Doucette said. “We’re asking the occupants of that vehicle to contact us.”

It's the fifth fatal motor-vehicle collision of the year in Vancouver.
