On the first day back to work after the Family Day long weekend, commuters and students should brace for the possibility of snow in Metro Vancouver.

Early this morning, Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for the eastern part of the region.

Today, two to four centimetres are expected except over higher terrain. By early afternoon, it will become mixed with rain.

In the evening, two centimetres could fall, again mixed with rain.

Meanwhile, the public weather forecaster has released a new animated location-based app to make it easier to plan ahead.
