Male suspect wanted for sexual assault upon woman at Surrey park

      RCMP has issued a public notification about a sexual assault in the Newton area of Surrey and are seeking to speak with anyone who has information about the incident.

      Around 9:40 p.m. on February 22, as a woman was walking in West Newton Community Park in the 13000 block of 59th Avenue, an unknown male grabbed her from behind.

      The man threatened the woman and demanded sexual acts.

      However, she was able to escape from him without any physical harm.

      The suspect is described as a South Asian male who is in his 20s with a medium build and is approximately 170 centimetres (five-feet, seven-inches) tall.

      He is described as having a chubby face with a small beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a woolen hat and a dark jacket.

      Investigators believe there were other people in the park at the time of the incident.

      In a separate recent assault case in Surrey, a 16-year-old female was walking home around 9:15 a.m. on February 26 near 154 Street and 101A Avenue in Surrey when a man grabbed her and tried to direct her toward a vehicle but she managed to get away from him.
