Driver dies in fiery early-morning crash in Coquitlam

      A driver had died after a severe car crash occurred in Coquitlam early this morning.

      Around 1 a.m. today (March 18), Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash on Lougheed Highway near Alderson Avenue.

      Upon arrival, officers found a car that had crashed into a traffic pole and was engulfed in flames.

      The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver has not yet been determined.

      Speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash.

      Traffic was closed westbound on Lougheed Higway this morning.
