A two-alarm fire caused a great deal of concern last night near the corner of Manitoba Street and 4th Avenue.

But in the end, firefighters were able to successfully contain the blaze to the first floor of a warehouse building.

Thick smoke enveloped parts of the Mount Pleasant industrial area, but nobody was inside and there were no injuries.

      The cause is under investigation.

The previous night, Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services quickly put out a fire on outdoor stairs at a building in the 600 block of Alexander Street, according to a tweet by Assistant Chief Sheldon Young.

So all things considered, it's been a good week for the department.
