The mayor of New Westminster is hoping he'll be slick enough to avoid being caught in a whizzer when he dresses up for his first pro wrestling match.

You read that correctly—Jonathan Coté, a.k.a. Johnny X, will be in the ring.

The fun takes place at the Royal City Rumble on Saturday (March 30) night.

He'll be alongside tag-team partner Rish Koya (Mr. India) to take on Team U.S.A. at the Royal City Centre Mall in the Uptown area.

Johnny X and Mr. India bill themselves as the Royal City Defenders.

Fans of the mayor will have to wait and see whether he'll don a spandex singlet.

The preshow begins at the Royal City Centre mall at 4 p.m. and the match is expected to begin around 6 p.m.

At last year's Royal City Rumble, Coté was Mr. India's manager at the Royal City Rumble.

In the video below, you can see Coté with his wrestling pal—and check out the hardnosed glint in the mayor's eyes.

And if you're wondering about that moniker, Coté's middle name is Xerxes, who was the king of Persia from 486 to 465 BCE.

Xerxes was not a great military leader, but he distinguished himself by overseeing many magnificent construction projects, including a palace at Susa.
