RCMP have released further details about an evening earlier this week in Surrey that was shattered by gunfire and a multivehicle collision.

Around 9 p.m. on April 1, Surrey RCMP received a report of shots fired in the 15300 block of 102A Avenue.

According to witnesses, a blue sedan was seen leaving the area.

Shortly thereafter, Surrey RCMP received numerous 911 calls about a multi-vehicle collision also involving a blue sedan in the area of 156th Street and 100th Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found one man suffering from gunshot injuries and a second man with serious injuries believed to be from the collision.

Both men were taken to hospital in serious condition.

Three other males at or near the site were taken into custody and all five men, aged 18 to 26 years old, were detained for the investigation.

Firearms were also seized the collision scene.

Investigators believe that this was a targeted incident between individuals known to each other and was related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

According to Surrey RCMP, two vehicles were directly involved in this incident: a blue Honda Civic and a grey Dodge Charger. Investigators believe that occupants in one of the vehicles fired shots at the other vehicle but that there wasn’t an exchange of gunfire.

Investigators also believe that the vehicles may have been involved in dangerous driving in the area of 148th Avenue and 108th Street before the reports of gunfire at 9 p.m.

Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP or Crimestoppers.
